Matt Ford

I am a chemical engineer specializing in development of modeling and mathematical software for a range of engineering problems and have worked as a science journalist with Ars Technica in the past. I have a bachelors and doctorate in chemical engineering and have specialized in computer simulation of various phenomena since I was a sophomore in college--I've worked on projects ranging from modeling a handful of atoms to modeling the entirety of Earth at once.

After spending 11 years in the oil and gas industry developing realtime software and simulations of pipelines at a huge international company, I now work at a small startup as a engineer specializing in machine learning and artificial intelligence. I can help out with topics around working in a large organization, or topics in transitioning from more traditional engineering to software development, to working with highly computationally efficient/expensive software.
