Bryan Garza

I am an SDE II at Amazon with 6 years of experience. Currently, I work on the Rust Platform team at AWS, contributing to/maintaining open source projects that are integral to the Rust landscape. Previously, I worked on distributed systems in the IoT space. I have a depth of technical and systems design knowledge, and I can also offer guidance for career progression and career growth. I’m a good listener and can help you get on the right track to reach whatever career goals you may have.

I have worked on and helped ship multiple different products at Amazon, including Amazon Cloud Cam, Ring Smart Outdoor Lighting, and Amazon Sidewalk. I participate in interview/hiring loops, and am in Amazon’s Security Certifier program (meaning I review other team’s end-to-end architecture and help ensure that it adheres to Amazon’s security standards and data-handling best practices).

I am highly interested in clean code, well-designed architecture, writing useful, reusable abstractions, etc. I introduced Rust within my previous org in early 2019, continued building out Rust services there until early 2022, and it’s currently part of the core system, with tens of thousands of lines in Production. I work primarily in the cloud, but collaborate closely with teams across firmware and mobile.
