I've been working with Catalin as my mentor since February 2025. Before I became his mentee, I had been a programmer for about three years, but I never really had the confidence to build things on my own. I was mainly maintaining other people's systems rather than designing or building my own from scratch. Most of my work was with legacy code (as is often the case in corporate environments), which left some gaps in my knowledge. Under Catalin's mentorship, all of that changed. He helped me fill those knowledge gaps, especially around software architecture and building modern systems. More importantly, he gave me the confidence and support I needed to finally start building things myself. Since working with Cat, I've even been promoted at work! The growth in my skills and mindset has been immense. If you're in a similar position, someone with experience but feeling stuck or lacking confidence to take the next step, I can't recommend Cat highly enough. Catalin has been a really great mentor. He is able to look at things from different angles and give advice that is both practical and thoughtful. What I found especially useful was that he did not only focus on the technical side, but also helped me think about my soft skills, communication, career direction, and how to position myself better as an engineer.
