Note: I’m inactive here as Google’s outside work policy prohibits career coaching folks in the tech sector.
Hey there! I'm Devon, a software engineer with an unconventional journey spanning over two decades. I've worked across many realms of industry, ranging from web development to operating systems and more.
Mentoring is my passion, backed by over 15 years of helping individuals build their skills and navigate their careers in the software industry. Unsure where to start? That's no problem. We'll collaborate to uncover your path whether that involves clarifying your goals, honing your skills, exploring new horizons, or some combination thereof.
Core to my approach is understanding how people learn and grow. I've spent significant time doing self-studies in pedagogy, social psychology, and adult educational psychology. Regardless of whether you're a visual thinker, hands-on learner, or theory enthusiast, we'll tailor our strategy to match your unique learning style. I especially enjoy helping folks grow in developing strategic and systems thinking skills, which are key to advancement into leadership roles. Additionally, I work with ADHD and can help provide support and success strategies to folks with similar experiences.
I cannot provide assistance with interview preparation or how to land a tech job.
I believe in the inherent value of a diverse workforce. I'm supportive of and have experience mentoring folks from groups underrepresented in the software engineering field, including folks sitting at the intersection of multiple groups. I feel it's also important to note that I am LGBTQIA+-affirming.
Excited to partner with you in your career development!
