Hi, I’m Fatima 👋 — a Senior Software Engineer at Yelp, international tech speaker, and hands-on mentor with a passion for helping others succeed in today’s brutal tech market.
I’ve been on both sides of the interview table - as a candidate navigating the highly competitive tech job market, and as an interviewer helping others land offers. Along the way, I’ve mentored hundreds of engineers on everything from cracking technical interviews and negotiating offers, to building confidence in public speaking and overcoming imposter syndrome. My approach is simple: personalized, practical, and human.
A bit about me:
I earned my Bachelor’s in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and a Master’s in Data Science from HEC Montréal.
I’ve worked across trading, semiconductors, and tech - starting at DRW before joining Yelp in 2021.
As a speaker, I’ve delivered 100+ talks at hackathons, conferences, and keynotes across North America and Europe (NDC Copenhagen, SCALE, Women of Silicon Roundabout, Tapia, Agile, cdCon+GitOpsCon, and more). My sessions are known for being real, interactive, and packed with hands-on strategies that attendees can apply immediately.

Fatima is amazing!! Really great at breaking down concepts and explaining them. When pair programming/doing leetcode challenges she is very good at knowing when to let you fumble around on your own a little when you’re stuck and when to jump in and give you some guidance. This is so rare I usually feel rushed about finding a solution because interviewers jump in so quickly when many times if given just a few more seconds I could come to it on my own. Out of the hundreds of different resources available for interviewing she pointed me toward ones that are actually applicable/useful. 10/10 recommend Fatima!

I have been working with Fatima for almost three months now as I prepare for software engineering interviews in this very challenging job market, especially in Canada. In just these three months of mentorship, I have gained more confidence in my preparation than I did in the previous two years. One thing I really appreciate about Fatima’s mentorship is her honesty. She points out my mistakes directly and is very clear about what I am doing wrong and what I need to improve. That constructive feedback has helped me become much more aware of the gaps in my preparation.
