Steve Bryen

I'm a Technology executive with nearly two decades of experience shaping technology strategy, leading high-performing teams, and delivering complex software and data products at scale. I've held senior roles at AWS, Microsoft, and high-growth startups, and today am CTO & MD, Technology at an AI Scale-Up.

My career has spanned industries such as Enterprise Financial Services & Telco, Big-Tech, and Digital native tech scale-ups. I’ve led teams of 100+ across Product Engineering, Cloud and Platform, Developer Experience, Data, MLOps, AI Engineering and supporting functions. I've worked closely with exec stakeholders such as CFO, CMO, CPO to align technology with the wider business goals.

Along the way, I've built and scaled teams, modernised legacy stacks, introduced new operating models like “you build it, you run it,” and led cloud and organisational transformations. I’ve managed technology budgets in the tens of millions, negotiated major vendor contracts, and delivered technology into safety-critical environments like autonomous vehicles.

As a mentor, I’m particularly keen to support aspiring or emerging leaders; including engineers moving into management, first-time tech leads, or anyone looking to grow their influence and impact. I bring a mix of technical depth, strategic insight, and candid advice grounded in real-world experience.
