About this Session

Having a good resume on hand when going on the job hunt is crucial, and will make your search a lot easier. Even if you're not looking for a new position right now, having an up-to-date CV that sells your experience to future potential employers is always good to have.

In this session, a mentor with hiring experience will go over your CV and give you actionable points on how to improve it. You will be able to follow along and make these changes right away, hopefully leaving you with a top-notch CV at the end of the sessions.

Over the last 8 years, I've held many different engineering management roles. I was an Engineering Manager, an Engineering Director, and I am currently the VP of Engineering at Academia.edu

Across these 8 years, I've seen thousands of resumes, and I've interviewed hundreds of applicants.

When you apply for a job, a resume is the first impression you provide to a potential employer, and it determines whether you will get an initial screen or not. Therefore, a solid resume is critical.

We will discuss what type of opportunity you are looking for next. Different types of opportunities require different resumes that highlight different achievements. We will evaluate whether your resume communicates to the prospective employer that you would be a good fit. I will point out the resume's strengths, and uncover its areas of improvement. I will also provide concrete suggestions for enhancements you can apply immediately.
