I was pretty much the textbook example of imposter's syndrome. Before I started my mentorship with Farzad, I had to learn Javascript and React by myself as quickly as possible because of a job opportunity. But when I tried creating personal coding projects, the gaps in my rushed learning process began to show. That's when I realized I needed help from an experienced mentor and that's when I found Farzad. Farzad helped me by getting me back to the basics of front-end development, one step at a time. Since the beginning he was really mindful of my imposter's syndrome and he helped me overcome my insecurities. His communication is direct and clear and he is very reliable and professional, never having missed a single session. One of the things I like the most about Farzad is that he makes you work out the solution to a problem by asking you questions, instead of just handing out the solution or coding it for you. He knows that practice makes perfect, which is why he sends me coding exercises every week so I can get better as a developer. It's hard to describe how important this mentorship has been to me. It's been life changing. He helped me learn how to think like a programmer. Now I know that even if I don't know how to immediately solve a problem, I'm still capable of finding out the solution on my own if I work hard enough. This newfound confidence benefits me not only as a programmer, but as a person. That's the greateast gift a mentor can give to a student and that's what I got.
