A strong portfolio can open doors, but only if it clearly shows what you can do and why it matters. This MentorCruise session is designed to help you improve how your work is presented, whether you are applying for jobs, pitching clients, or building credibility in your field. If your portfolio feels scattered, outdated, or not quite convincing enough, this session gives you practical feedback on how to strengthen it.

You’ll work with an experienced mentor to review your portfolio through the eyes of a hiring manager, client, or industry peer. Together, you can assess the quality of your project selection, case studies, storytelling, structure, and presentation, and identify what is missing or not landing. The goal is to leave with clearer direction on how to make your portfolio more focused, more compelling, and more effective at creating opportunities.

I have reviewed hundreds of portfolios across my years of mentoring and as someone who has hired designers. I know what a hiring manager actually looks at, what kills a portfolio in the first 30 seconds, and what makes one impossible to put down.
I work across both product and brand portfolios at every level, from juniors trying to get their first role to principals repositioning for Staff and Director level. I have helped designers at companies including RBC, Wealthsimple, Apple, The Globe and Mail, and Barclays rebuild their portfolios from the ground up.
I look at everything. Structure, case study narrative, visual hierarchy, how you present process versus outcomes, whether your work is actually telling a story or just showing screens. I will be direct with you. If something is not working I will tell you why and exactly what to do about it.
Sessions run mornings and evenings Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.
