I had one mock system design session with Yen. Starting from defining functional and non-functional requirements, he gave me very thoughtful feedback about how to focus on critical feature requirements as well as the importance of providing metrics to describe the expected latency and tolerancing downtimes. Then, we spent some time going through my high-level design, also, defining DB Schema plus API. Still, Yen gave me tons of valuable advice about how to scale up the system, how to handle requests in real-time using Kafka, and correct my DB design as well. I feel very comfortable chatting with him and to be honest even though I was a little bit frustrated due to my not-so-good performance during the mock interview, his encouragement made me eager to work harder on preparing a system design interview to fill up the knowledge gap! Thank you Yen, I will recommend him to anyone who wants to evaluate themselves or be ready to be interviewed to have a mock interview session with Yen.
