Hi there! 👋 I’m Heigi, and currently a Senior Product Designer at Lyft.
I’ve been in different shoes in the UX industry — a career switcher seeking my very first UX internship, a sole designer of a 10-person startup, a lead designer managing a team of 5 designers, a job seeker during extensive tech layoffs, and an interviewer gauging candidates’ skills. Heigi is kind and our Zoom meetings were pleasant, but I often felt unclear about the value of our mentorship. When I asked questions via email, she would often suggest discussing them during the meeting instead of providing direct answers. Given that this is an online mentoring platform, I expected more flexibility and support through email exchanges, especially for detailed advice or follow-up questions. Unfortunately, this wasn’t well-supported, and I didn’t receive as much actionable guidance as I had hoped. Also, the scope and limitations of her mentorship were not clearly outlined in the initial description, which made it difficult to set expectations properly.
