Joey Zingarelli

Hi there! My name is Joey. I have over 10 years of Graphic and UX design experience at some of the worlds leading design agencies and startups. I am turning my attentions towards mentorship and leadership, which is what brings me here. I am passionate about demystifying design as a profession and helping those with less experience learn to thrive in this lucrative field. I look forward to meeting you!

Work experience:

I was an intern at Manual in 2015 and went on to be head of my graduating class at the University of Washington Design program in 2016. I secured a job offer from Pinterest in San Francisco just before graduating.

While at Pinterest, I drove an expansion of the Pinterest Design System and empowered a rapidly expanding team of 40+ designers and 200+ front end engineers. I systematically clarified every major surface of both the web and mobile applications, reduced clutter and drove growth in comprehension, engagement, and revenue. After transitioning to the Core Experience team, I created a suite of experiences to give users control over their recommendation algorithm. After moving back to my hometown of Seattle I switched gears and built the first mobile business analytics tools that resulted in increased content creation and advertiser revenue.

After Pinterest I began working at Headspace on their design system. I remade and reorganized their design system from the ground up and worked with engineers to implement standardized components. I designed and implemented dark mode for them in the first two months of working there. After that, I moved towards marketing and product design, remaking their landing pages – driving a 15% increase in signups. I then redesigned their onboarding flow, implementing a questionnaire that drove recommendation of personalized mental health content.

I currently work at Cambly, a startup that focuses on english education. More to come on this!
