Nate Barlow

As soon as I took my Intro to Programming course my first year of college, I fell in love with software development. I loved programming and breaking down complex problems into elegant solutions, and I knew that was what I wanted to do in my career.

I enjoyed school and studied hard in college, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. But I knew that real experience was far more important, so while in school, I joined neighbor.com, a young tech startup. I worked there part-time for 1.5 years as a full-stack software engineer, and I consider that job the catalyst for my whole career trajectory.

I then received an internship with Amazon, working on the Kindle app. This took my skills to the next level, as I deepened my knowledge of cloud development and distributed system design.

After graduation from Brigham Young University in Computer Science, I joined Amazon Kindle in 2021 as a full-time software engineer. I later transitioned to AWS, where I have led and contributed to various successful projects. I was promoted to a Software Engineer 2 a little over 1 year after joining the company, and am currently working toward promotion to Senior Software Engineer.

I have a passion for teaching! Ever since I worked as a math instructor in high school, I've known I have a knack for breaking down concepts and helping others learn and understand. I have grown so much in my career, and I want to help others do the same.
