I help engineers, data scientists, and PMs move from building models to building AI products that people actually use.
I started out as an ML engineer and data scientist, working on recommendation systems, computer vision, and NLP at scale. Over time, at Peltarion, neptune.ai (now OpenAI), and JetBrains, my focus gradually shifted. I became less interested in the model itself and more interested in what happens around it.
How does this turn into something real? Something users adopt, teams can iterate on, and businesses actually care about?
These days, I think of myself as a product engineer. I take ideas from something vague and turn them into working prototypes quickly, so decisions are based on real feedback instead of guesswork.
A big part of this shift has come from how I use AI tools like Codex and Claude Code. It is not just about being faster. It changes how you work entirely. You can explore ideas, build, and validate things much more independently. Most people are still underestimating how big that shift is.
In my mentorship, I work with people who are going through a similar transition:
