About Me
Hi, I’m Rana a Ph.D. in Security, Security Engineer at Amazon (Ex-Ripple) , and a passionate technologist with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Computer Science. I immigrated to the U.S. in 2019, bringing with me years of experience as a software engineer in Iran and as an entrepreneur running my own business. My journey since then has been one of growth, adaptation, and discovery.

I began my U.S. career as a Research Assistant at Arizona State University, where I delved into browser security. During my Ph.D., I collaborated with Google, leveraging machine learning and phishing expertise to identify key vulnerabilities in browser phishing detection systems. I later pitched a startup idea, developed part of it as an intern at Ripple, and eventually joined their team. There, I worked closely with security leadership to design solutions for scam detection in the crypto space, presenting paper in this work internationally in Singapore.
I also navigated the competitive tech job market, interviewing with Meta, Amazon, and several startups. Through persistence, preparation, and leveraging mentorship, I successfully received offers from both Meta and Amazon. These experiences taught me invaluable lessons about the U.S. tech industry, from resume writing to interview preparation, and how to effectively position yourself for top opportunities.

Beyond my technical work, I am deeply committed to building communities. As the President of the Iranian Students Association and the founder of Arizona's chapter of Women of MENA in Technology, I organized events and initiatives that supported women in tech and fostered connections among immigrants. These experiences taught me the power of networking, collaboration, and creating spaces where people feel empowered to grow.
