I specialise in helping early-stage startups develop and implement scalable SEO strategies—while avoiding the common pitfalls that can stall growth or become costly to fix later.
With over ten years' experience across SMBs, startups, enterprise, and my own e-commerce business, I bring a practical, strategic approach to organic growth. I’ve led SEO at two of Australia’s most successful startups (Canva and Uber Car Share)and I understand how to balance long-term growth with short-term priorities.
While SEO is my specialism, I take a broader view of marketing. I hold a Diploma in Digital Marketing from the IDM and have worked closely with cross-functional teams across paid media, product, data, PR, and brand. I know how SEO fits within the wider picture—and how to communicate its value to stakeholders at all levels.
Alongside deep expertise in technical, programmatic, and international SEO, I also bring:
- First-hand experience running an e-commerce business, and understanding the realities of growing a company from the inside
- Familiarity with how AI and LLMs are reshaping search, and the evolving strategies to track and optimise performance
- Experience building and managing SEO teams, and aligning them with product and growth goals

Sam really knows his stuff, and his background is really applicable to our product so it made sense to have him help me get to grips with SEO as a Founder. I was looking for a mentor to help me shortcut some of the learnings and practice of getting SEO efforts up and running - both in understanding the process from a high level, but also being able to form action plans and dig into data. Sam and I spent 30-45 minutes on a handful of calls. The initial calls were led by Sam reviewing our current site and rankings and making recommendations or walking me through his findings and why it mattered, then later calls were introduction to topics or concepts in SEO, or answering questions that had sprung up for me between calls.
