Career Strategy with

Sometimes, a strategy is needed to accomplish a future career change, or simply to get further in your current position. Should you go back to school? Look for a new job? Learn a new set of skills by yourself? Become a freelancer?

One of our mentors could be the outside view you need. They understand the challenges that come with a career change, and are happy to help you come up with a solid strategy on how to reach your goals.

As I describe on my profile, I have a 25-year career, but I only managed to get it onto a successful path about 10 years ago. Prior to that, it's been a lot of mistakes, pinballing around, and stall-outs.

I didn't have a career plan, and I really should've had one.

So, I have a lot of empathy for people who are either just starting their career, or ended up in a dead-end.

Making lots of mistakes is insufficient for being a good mentor. One also needs to have corrected their mistakes. I am fortunate in that I was able to get my shit together, correct my mistakes, and I now hold an executive position at a great company. I know how to correct mistakes.

Making lots of mistakes on one's career, and fixing them, is still insufficient for being a good mentor. One has to have practice advising other people, and receiving feedback on their advice. Luckily, in my capacity as Manager, Director and VP, I have advised dozens of people on their career progression, and have witnessed the outcomes: promotions, exciting opportunities, and amazing jobs.
