I was evaluating a new role at a company that I have a unique history with, and I needed outside perspective on whether this was a smart career move or just the "easy path" towards product leadership. Jasmine immediately reframed my mindset from "How do I impress them?" to "How do I vet them as much as they're vetting me?" She helped me prioritize two critical questions for a short intro call: What's different this time from when the initiative failed? And what does the committed team look like? What I valued most was her directness. When I mentioned that I felt like I was hitting a "ceiling" with my career, she pushed back: "How do you know you've hit the ceiling?" This forced me to confront where that assumption comes from, rather than accept it as inevitable. She also identified a critical gap I'd missed: I was evaluating opportunities reactively instead of defining my North Star first. Jasmine gave me a clear framework for the conversation - director-level questions and what to listen for in the answers. I'm now working to define my long-term vision so I can evaluate opportunities against that, not just take the next available step. The biggest shift: I entered feeling like I needed to prove myself. I left feeling like a director-level candidate who should be vetting the hiring manager and the company equally. That mindset change is already shaping how I prepare for my next career move.
