A little about me:
I currently lead product design for Apple Intelligence across iOS (Messages, FaceTime, Mail, Phone, Contacts, etc). I’ve served on hiring committees across Apple, Google, and Microsoft. I know exactly how candidates are evaluated and how to help you stand out.

My mentorship is structured in 2 parts:

1. Daily offline support
You get daily written feedback, structured guides, examples, portfolio reviews, interview feedback, and clear next steps between calls, so you always know exactly what to improve and why. Progress happens between sessions, not during them.

2. Live calls using a funnel-based approach
I run structured studies with recruiters and hiring managers every six months to better understand how candidates are evaluated and what separates those who get interviews from those who don't. Combined with my experience serving on hiring committees at Apple, Google, and Microsoft, this gives you practical, up-to-date guidance based on how hiring decisions are actually made.

📊 2026 Q2 (April - June '26) breakdown:

• Included 2 career changers who landed their first UX role in under 3 months after more than 6 months without traction
• Included 2 new graduates requiring visa sponsorship who secured UX roles after building real client work into case studies

What mentees say

5 out of 5 stars

I came to this mentorship with a portfolio I'd been polishing in my spare time for two months, and honestly, a lot of uncertainty about what actually mattered. What impressed me most was how his feedback was both detailed and thoughtful at the same time: he didn't just point out what could be better, he turned my vague worries into clear, actionable next steps. Several of his high-level perspectives were eye-opening and shifted how I think about presenting my work. His biggest strength, though, is judgment. As a designer, it's easy to get lost in details that aren't really impactful. Knowing when something is "good enough" and where to dig deeper has become the real skill. That's exactly what he's great at. He's also incredibly approachable and kind! Having him in my corner has been reassuring in a way I didn't expect from a mentorship. Highly recommend!!!!

John has been my mentor since I just started my journey. I don't have the language ability to express my gratitude to him. Undoubtedly, John is the BEST mentor. There's 2 reasons: 1. He's extremely resourceful & knowledgeable. Whenever you have any questions, he would answer like having prepared for long time. He often has tons of resources, like Doraemon with a universe in his pocket. 2. He's the most empathetic mentor I have ever seen. Sometimes you not only need an experienced mentor who can provide accurate, professional feedback, but also give you support when encountering setbacks. He's warm, kind, supportive. With his constant encouragement, I gained the courage and confidence to face frustration. I believe you would never regret to choose him as your mentor, since these characteristics are very rare.

I had a great experience working with John as my mentor! He gave thoughtful, honest, and practical feedback throughout our sessions, helping me strengthen my portfolio, case studies, and resume. I especially appreciated that his advice was specific to my work and goals rather than generic. Our conversations gave me more clarity on how to present my experience and what to focus on next. I’m grateful for his time, perspective, and support, and I would recommend John to anyone looking for grounded, constructive mentorship in product design!!

John was phenomenal. I went back and forth for a while on whether I even needed a mentor and tried to figure everything out on my own first. Looking back, I wish I had worked with him sooner. He completely changed how I approach my portfolio, resume, and interviews. He helped me turn my work into a clear, structured story, refine my resume to match what recruiters are actually looking for, and prepare for interviews in a way that feels natural and confident. Before working with him, I struggled to explain my work and wasn’t sure if I was on the right track. Now I go into interviews feeling prepared, confident, and much clearer in how I present my experience. Within a few weeks of refining my portfolio, I started getting traction with interviews. What stood out most was how honest and practical his feedback was. Nothing felt generic or surface-level. Every session had clear, actionable next steps, and I always knew exactly what to improve. Really grateful for his help. It made a much bigger difference than I expected.
