My journey...
I currently work at Starling Bank, which has been an exciting and fulfilling challenge, because I'm learning Java on the job alongside developing my frontend expertise. React, TypeScript, and JavaScript are the main languages I use day to day. Previously, I worked at an EdTech start-up for three years after graduating from a bootcamp in 2021. It's a huge honour to be living proof that taking a non-linear, non-traditional path into tech can change your life, and I love to share my experiences to inspire others!
As a career-switcher, I'm deeply committed to making the industry a more diverse and inclusive space. In my spare time, I concentrate my efforts on helping more people from underrepresented groups enter the tech world by paying my own experiences forward. When I started my mentorship with Kasia, I had no idea what I wanted to do; only what I didn’t. Kasia helped me discover my strengths and guided me through every step of the job search: from navigating the job market and exploring different career paths to creating my CV, writing cover letters, and refining my LinkedIn profile. She supported me through my first interviews, helped me prepare, and when I received my first job offer, she made sure I wasn’t being taken advantage of. Even after I started the job, Kasia continued to guide me, helping me navigate the new role and work more efficiently.
