Miklos’ mentorship is likely more beneficial for those who have finished boot camp, rather than self-taught individuals or those with a Google UX certificate. His advice was pointed towards enrolling in a boot camp. If you’re seeking mentorship to build on a self-taught foundation, it might be best to look for a mentor whose expertise aligns more closely with your current skills and future goals.

Miklos's response

In professional circles, it's not uncommon to encounter naive and immature individuals with ambitious career goals who may have unrealistic expectations about the journey ahead. This was 100% the case with this call. During introductory calls, when confronted with the practical realities of MentorCruise and the necessity for commitment and investment, some respond by unfairly assigning a 1-star rating to the mentor conducting the call. This reaction often stems from a reluctance to acknowledge the platform's primary role as a mentorship resource rather than an educational institution (costing 5-10 times more) and a shortcut to instant success. It's a familiar scenario. Idealistic individuals with naive, unrealistic career expectations often react unfavorably to a reality check, the realities of professional development. In this instance, the individual harbored an overly optimistic expectation of achieving a lucrative job in the industry by investing minimal funds and completing a "UX course" on the platform within six months. They struggle to accept the need for dedicated effort and investment, preferring to distort the platform's purpose to suit their desires. This situation highlights the ongoing challenge of aligning mentees' expectations with the realities of mentorship, underscoring the importance of clear communication and upholding the platform's integrity.

Miklos has been a fantastic mentor since day one. In the relatively short space of time he's been mentoring me my knowledge and understanding of UX has come on leaps and bounds. His explanation is always detailed, but clear and concise. The material Miklos sends after our calls is always super helpful as well. Highly recommended!
