I completed a full spectrum accounting education from my bachelor's, master's, CPA to working at a big accounting firm. This was all in a half-hearted attempt to rebel against my parent's wanting me to be a doctor/lawyer. In the end, I lost years of doing the work I actually love: using factual data to make important decisions for all things and making that accessible through open source, not just accounting. I wish I had mentors that empowered me to run towards problems that excite me rather than run away from one career to another. I hope to be that mentor I wish I had. I had a one-off career strategy session with Sung. I'm a Data Engineer with 5 years of experience and am looking for guidance on improving my technical vocabulary. Most of my learning comes from experience rather than a structured curriculum, so I feel a bit self conscious on lacking the right terminology during job interviews and during technical discussions. I had asked Sung for a guide on bringing my vocabulary up to speed. Sung helped me hone in on the technological terms with suggested learning material based on the jobs that I'm interested in. I feel happy that I have direction in picking what to learn vs figuring out which youtube videos to watch on my own.
